Description
Total length: 1.30 - 1.50 m

The mountain reedbuck is the smallest of this species. Adapted to its habitat, its grey-fawn fur is protectively long. The underparts are white, including the tail which you can also see when fleeing. Only the rams have short, forward-hooked horns.

Distribution
Chanler's mountain reedbuck occurs in the mountainous and rocky slopes
in Sudan and Ethiopia

Ecology
The mountain reedbuck prefers broken hill country with scattered bush, trees and grassy slopes. The rams hold territories whereas females form small, more or less stable groups up to six individuals with their youngs. Activity, especially grazing, takes place both at night and during the day The ewe gives birth away from the group and the single lamb remains hidden for two or three months.

Trend:
Chanler’s Mountain Reedbuck occur in viable populations in Awash, Nechisar, Omo and Mago National Parks (Ethiopia), the Aberdares, Nairobi and Lake Nakuru National Parks (Kenya), and Arusha and Tarangire National Parks and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area (Tanzania).
